What is a Community Ambassador?

A Community Ambassador is an active student volunteer at We Connect The Dots, Inc. who takes part in planning meetings, designing programs, recruiting volunteers, and supporting educational initiatives. Ambassadors gain hands-on experience while mentoring and coaching their peers, all driven by a passion for education and a commitment to making a positive impact.

What does the program offer?

The CAP program offers students the chance to earn volunteer hours, take on leadership roles, and create programs that make an impact. Participants work alongside professionals, gaining valuable insight and mentorship, while building skills that prepare them for future education and career opportunities. With We Connect The Dots as your guide, you’ll build the skills and confidence to pursue your own career or educational path.

Program Requirements & Details

  • The Community Ambassador Program (CAP) is available for:

    • High School Students (13 and up)

    • College Students (Up to 21 years of age)

    • Commit to a minimum of 10 volunteer hours per month, 100 hours overall annually, including regular weekly meetings (Monday’s from 7:00pm to 8:30pm EST)

    • Commit to attending one WCTD conference as a support staff volunteer, mentor, or event lead (one-week or two-week program)

    • Have a passionate desire to be a leader, mentor, and guide to other students. Interviews with established ambassadors and WCTD Program Manager will determine final eligibility.

  • Through volunteering, students meet Honor Society volunteer requirements, build communications skills, gain real-world workplace experience, 21st Century workforce skills, and develop a portfolio to begin networking and exploring career paths.

  • College students gain volunteer experience, build 21st-century workforce skills, and strengthen their career portfolio on platforms like LinkedIn and GitHub. They’re matched with businesses and industry mentors for workplace learning opportunities—offered during the summer or year-round—that provide valuable, real-world career insight.
